Swan Valley Wines ‘Weip Country’ Chenin Blanc 2020

Why we like it
This incredibly difficult to source wine has been crafted without additions and represents the most pure expression of 80 year old dry-grown Chenin Blanc from the Swan Valley wines estate vineyard in Baskerville. Free run juice was settled at low temperature, before spontaneous indigenous fermentation in seasoned French oak barriques.
The bouquet displays fresh cut pear, Meyer lemon and damp straw, which will evolve to a honeyed compote with age. The textured palate is concentrated and deep, culmination in long mineral etched finish. This wine has been bottled without fining or filtration and a small edible sediment may naturally precipitate in bottle.
Real deal natural Chenin made from old vines. A textured style with plenty of forward fruit – stone fruit, passionfruit, with plenty of natural acidity to balance.
