Why we like it
Patch Wines is a collaboration between Kirilly Gordon and Matt Talbot that came to life after a brief stint working together in the Yarra Valley before Covid struck. When a patch of vines laden with ripe grapes turned up with no home to go to, Patch wines was born.
Now it says Shiraz on the label but this naughty little number also contains a cheeky 10% Viognier, a white grape traditionally added to Shiraz in French wine making to give the wine lifted and perfumed aromatics and body.
Dark cherry and baking spices, bay leaf and olive on the nose with this wine, a supple almost creamy palate with a lovely generosity of tannin.
